Ulla Stromstedt

This is a 1966 Lydia Lane article. Enjoy!

“When we are young our beauty is free,” Ulla Stromstedt commented, “but we have to pay for it later on or we lose it.

The price is respect for the laws of health. You can’t deal in excesses and expect to be in good shape very long. Ulla does not drink hard liquor, smoke or overeat. “By my country is health-minded. In Sweden we believe in exercising and in limiting our intake of starches.

Here there are too many sweets and too little thought given to what you are eating. Your portions are so large no wonder you hear all this talk about dieting or needing to reduce.” Ulla loves living in the United States. She finds the people remarkably friendly and she enjoys being in NBC-TV’s Flipper series. “I still wear a size eight,” she said, “and I hope I always will.” The two places she works on to hold the line are the waist and hips. “It is amazing how little time you have to spend provided you are systematic.

Once the habit is formed you think no more about exercising than brushing your teeth,” Ulla contends. For preventing that excess fat from forming around the waist, Ulla likes to twist. Stand erect, hands on shoulders with elbows out. Keep hips still and turn as far as you can in one direction and then in the other. Try to look in back of you.

Do this 50 times. “For the hips you can’t do better than rock and roll. Sit on the floor, raise your kneesĀ up and flop them to one side and then the other. Do this 100 times. “These few minutes offer so much in return. Why not try them?”
