Jane Wald

This is a 1964 Lydia Lane article. Enjoy!

“My big gest beauty project,” Jane Wald said coming right to the point, “has beea concentrating on relaxation. I discovered the cause of my tension came from two things problems and rushing. “I faced my problems with absolute honesty and solved them. I organized my day so that there was time to do everything without rushing. “I believe in taking a break during the day.

I lie down if possible and even if I can’t sleep, I work on letting go. “Most offices and factories have a couch in the rest-rooms. Instead of a coffee break, take a tension break. I have learned to make myself fall asleep by relaxing every muscle in my body. I begin with my toes, ankles, calves, knees, thighs I think about each muscle and tell it to relax.

And long before I reach the muscles in my face, I have fallen asleep. “I think it helps when you nap during the day to put plugs in your ears so you won’t hear the telephone and a black mask over your eyes to shut out the light. “Where there’s a will there is a way, and if you really want to keep a good disposition and look and feel well, get rid of your tension.” Strain, tenseness, pressure these are the conditions of the body and mind everyone complains of but few do anything about it.
